Hair

My hair will be slightly pinned back, with loose curls, possibly like the pic to the left or the one below.  I will base bridesmaid hairstyles on what everyone feels comfortable with and has a preference for.

Makeup

Dhru and I are both fans of more natural looking makeup, so that's the look I'm going for.  Here's some inspiration from good ole Freida!

I also like the look below that has slightly more dramatic eyes.

Trials

Picture

I like the looser curls of this look from the front, and that it looks full.

For makeup, I love the lip color, and the eyes looked great.  But most importantly, I thought the foundation was perfect on me.  I ended up buying it!

These eyes are a shimmery silvery color.  This was meant for the church wedding/white gown, but we think we like this better for the Hindu ceremony.

We warmed up the eyes to a more brownish gold color.  We thought it looked more natural and would look nice with the white gown.

We changed the hair slightly for the engagement pics, as a second trial, because in trial 1, my bangs kept flopping into my face.  We ended up twisting it out of my face.

The curls were too tight for my epics, like ringlets, so we made sure to tell Amy we wanted them looser the day of.

Update: Final Looks

Picture
We ultimately decided to go with the same makeup look for both wedding ceremonies, the goldish look on the right above.  I loved it because it was more natural and knew Dhru would favor it.  Plus I was wearing ivory/off-white for both ceremonies.  For the reception, I decided to alter the eye makeup very slightly for a more fun look to go with the Indian outfit.  I love the eye makeup to the left!

For hair, we did a curled up-do for the morning wedding, which was then covered in a dupatta/shawl.  For the afternoon wedding and reception, we took down the hair, loosened the curls, and twisted a bit back in braids.  I had hair accessories, tikkas from India, and a crystal hair band from Chic Parisien for the different weddings.

There were some things I liked and some things I didn't.  Will post final reviews on vendor page!

Mehndi

Because I will be wearing a wedding gown for the Catholic ceremony, I don't want to have too much henna on my arms.  I'll most likely get a design on my palms and feet, and leave the tops of my hands and arms bare.

Post-Wedding Pics

We had a really small and casual Mehndi Party at my house.  Pretty much me and my cousins.  The girl who came to do the mehndi, Tanya, was VERY fast and talented.  I made the mistake of walking around too much while it was drying(too impatient!), so I smudged it a little here and there. :(  I don't have pics of the mehndi once it dried and flaked off, but hopefully the pro-pics look nice.

My friend and bridesmaid soaked the drying mehndi in lemon sugar water, spooned heated ghee(butter) on my hands and had me hold them over a hot stove, then tied plastic bags over my hands and feet over the mendhi before I went to bed...all this so it would turn darker.  The darker the mendhi the stronger and longer the marriage will be and last.  Considering my mehndi is still around two weeks later, it looks like we're good. :)

Bridesmaid Hair and Makeup

Picture

We decided to go with a pinkish gold look that would suit each girl, but not be too pink or too dramatic.

For hair, we went with a down look since that was everyone's preference.  We decided on loose waves pinned up to the side with straight rhinestone clips for the bridesmaids, and braids for the Junior Bridesmaids.

Flower Girl Hair

I'm not big on the flower girl wreaths a lot of people do.  We decided on a similar "loose curls" style like mine with rhinestone clips.
